The DeCillo Company was built on the belief that the spaces we live in should bring us joy.
For more than a decade, Clayton DeCillo has grown the company around a high standard of craftsmanship, clear communication, and genuine accountability. As the team has expanded, those values have remained the foundation of how we approach every project.
We care deeply about the details — not only because they shape the final result, but because they reflect the quality of the work as a whole. From planning and problem-solving to execution and finish work, we take the time to do things thoughtfully, communicate openly, and make decisions with the long-term integrity of the project in mind.
We also believe the construction process should feel collaborative rather than transactional. Every client, property, and project is different, and we make an effort to understand what matters most before determining the best path forward. That means listening carefully, being transparent when conditions change, and treating each space with the same level of care we would expect in our own.
Our goal is simple: to deliver thoughtful, enduring results that feel intentional and exceptional— while giving our clients confidence in both the process and the people behind it.
About Us
CLAYTON DECILLO
OWNER & CONTRACTOR
Clayton left school at 15 to pursue a career in the trades and has spent the last 16 years building his knowledge and experience from the ground up. He saved up enough hot mopping to move to Hawaii alone at 16 years old (thus the 808 area code!). He gradually took on more complex work, developing a deep understanding of plumbing, remodeling, and general construction through years of hands-on experience.
He started his own general contracting business in California at 20 years old. Today, Clayton leads projects from the first walkthrough through completion, combining extensive field knowledge with the ability to coordinate multiple trades, troubleshoot problems, and execute everything from service work to full renovations.
Just as important as the work itself is the way Clayton works with people. He is exceptionally patient, empathetic, and personable, taking the time to listen, explain options clearly, and make sure clients feel comfortable throughout the process. He understands how disruptive construction can be and approaches each project with respect for the people, homes, and businesses involved.
Outside of work, Clayton enjoys golfing, surfing, snowboarding, or finding a project to take on at home with Sara and their Bernedoodle, Susan.
SARA OTTO
OPERATIONS, BRAND, & BUSINESS MANAGER
Sara leads operations for the DeCillo Company, keeping the systems behind the business organized. Sara and Clayton like to joke that between the two of them, they have two college degrees — Sara just happens to have both of them — from the University of Michigan, in Communications and Information. She brings a background in product operations, analytics, real estate, and design to everything happening behind the scenes from logistics and accounting to web design, branding, and broader business strategy.
She is also currently completing the accounting coursework and experience required to become a CPA in CA, which will bring an increasingly strong financial and accounting foundation to the business.
Clayton & Sara's diverse backgrounds contribute to the strength of their partnership: Clayton brings more than a decade of hands-on construction experience, while Sara focuses on the systems, organization, and business infrastructure that keep everything moving.
When she isn’t working on the business, Sara enjoys surfing, snowboarding, photography, cooking, and of course, exploring with Clayton and their Bernedoodle, Susan.
